How to Set a Proper Dental Example for Your Family
Posted on 11/16/2020 by office
Good oral hygiene aims at helping you maintain a healthy lifestyle. Dental illnesses can be dangerous, and if left untreated, they lead to other health-related issues such as arthritis and high blood pressure. Setting proper dental examples for your family will help them maintain oral hygiene standards. The following are practices that can help you set these examples.
Brushing and Flossing Your Teeth Properly
You should brush your teeth a minimum of two times a day, for at least two minutes. If you want to set a good example for your family, ensure that you brush your teeth in the morning and right before going to sleep for not less than 2 Minutes. Floss properly, at least once a day. After a meal, rinse your mouth using a mouthwash or gargle with salty water to remove the food debris. You should brush after every meal, but not immediately; wait for 20 to 30 minutes because brushing immediately after meals can harm your teeth.
Use The Correct Dental Tools
When brushing your teeth, ensure that you are using the right toothbrush. Replace your toothbrush every three months. If you have a problem using the manual toothbrush, consider buying an electric toothbrush for your family, especially your kids. Use fluoride-based toothpaste, since fluoride is the crucial ingredient that keeps bacteria and other harmful substances at bay. Use a mouthwash that is approved by the American Dental Association.
Cleaning Your Tongue
Tongue cleaning is very crucial since the tongue also traps plaque and bacteria. Cleaning your tongue will remove the food particles and plaque that stick on the tongue surface. You will be able to taste different flavors better because your tongue buds can breathe freely. It will leave your mouth fresh and clean.
